Water Festival

It's Burmese New Year Festival time, and water festival is hold traditionally with the intention of cleaning up the spiritual impurities that one might have had in the previous year. It suppose to be a time of contemplation,--- time to change, --- time to leave the mistakes that had been done, --- time to embrace the new year with the right way of living. New year celebration pictures coming out of Burma has been changing dramatically every year. As the year goes by, --- other than throwing water and staged bands, --- original intention and essence of new year celebration and water festival has lost. Sadly, every year, average Burmese look thinner and darker. If they are not thin, they look unhealthy --- looking oedematous due to excessive drinking of beverages of all kind. Almost no one was seen wearing traditional Burmese attire, even during this new year celebration time. Some woman dancing group wore "longyi" but strangely they are dancing with Chinese/Japanese folding fans.It looks so odd. It is very sad to see the graceful country and beautiful people in such a state.
